No Noise Earplugs Review

I like to use no noise earplugs especially when I am travelling just to drown out those irritating noises around me while not affecting my hearing as to the conversation I may be having. Here is a review of the best 7 no noise earplugs currently on the market.

Experts on the issue of deafness claim that 24% of adults aged from 20 to 69 have some form of hearing loss due to the excessive noise we take for granted in society today, using earplugs can help reduce any future loss of hearing caused by this factor.

What Are Earplugs Used For

Earplugs are designed differently for many uses so depending on what activity I am doing will determine which set of earplugs I choose. They can be just for muting everyday noise that I am surrounded by in my daily routine, another set I use exclusively for swimming to block water from entering into my ears.

Whatever purpose they are designed for the most important thing is they are a comfortable fit, offer good value for the product and look good.

What Are No Noise Earplugs Made Of?

They can be constructed from a number of materials such as foam, silicone, wax or plastic. Some cheaper options for sleeping comfortably in a noisy environment may be disposable; others are designed to be used again and again.

What Are The Major Uses For No Noise Earplugs?

They are often used by people attending concerts; just 15 minutes of listening to loud music can cause irreparable damage to your hearing so wearing some form of protection for your ears is not only sensible but wearing the latest designs can also look cool. Working with power tools is another reason for wearing ear protection as is mowing the lawn. Apparently I snore in my sleep so my wife tells me; she is able to sleep better with earplugs.

How To Clean No Noise Earplugs

Disposable earplugs are not designed to be cleaned effectively and should be discarded after use. Reusable earplugs can be washed with warm water and a mild soap solution. Earplugs that are used regularly should be cleaned when they are obviously dirty or at least every few days. Plugs that are used occasionally should be wiped clean after every use to help any build up of harmful bacteria from forming. They should then be stored in the case they were originally bought in.

How Much Do They Cost?

Disposable earplugs are the cheapest ranging from ten cents up to a dollar for each pair. I prefer to buy in bulk as this is a cheaper option. Reusable earplugs can cost anything from a few dollars up to $US20 for each pair.

Noise Reduction Rating Or NRR Explained

Earplugs are given a noise reduction rating or NRR which is a measure of the level of decibels that are reduced when the earplugs are worn. A whisper is measured as 30dB, normal conversation is around 60dB and the siren of an emergency vehicle is 120dB. Any sound over 85dB can cause long term damage to your ears when given prolonged exposure. The higher the rating of NRR to your earplugs the better level of protection your ears are given against long term damage to your hearing.

In addition to the level of NRR, users of earplugs should ensure they are a good fit. I prefer to shop around until I find the best size for me. Some manufacturers have one size fits all, which frankly is not a good option as we all have ear sizes that are different. Also children need to be considered when buying and adult sizes are not suitable for small ears. If like me you ride a motorcycle then the earplugs need to fit inside your helmet while lessening the sound of the engine noise as well as that of the wind.

This is an excellent quality product and easily one of the best earplugs available; they also have the highest dB rating of 33. They are constructed from soft foam meaning they are both lightweight and comfortable to use. These earplugs are large in size and therefore recommended only for consumers with a wide ear canal. When worn correctly they are airtight, although they are described as being disposable as long as they are kept clean they can be used a few times before being discarded. Macks Pillow Soft Earplugs

Macks pillow soft earplugs are made of silicone putty to offer you silence when you require it. They are a hypoallergenic moldable silicone earplug that moulds itself onto your ear to form an airtight seal and not placed into your ear canal like so many similar products. Due to their molding to your ear and not entering the ear canal they are suitable for all sizes. They do however have a lower rating than many other earplugs with just 22dB. The silicone can be a little sticky and they are prone to easily attract dirt and dust. They are sold as being ideal for sleeping, especially if your partner snores and ideal for travel. They also have an edition of this style suitable for children. They are sold in packs of 6 pairs at $US 2.24 from Amazon. They can be reused a few times until the silicone no longer sticks to your ear or they become too dirty to use.
